Commentaries

I suggest you do not form your understanding of scripture based on commentaries. Commentaries are simply interpretation of scripture by people thinking they understand what God thinks. Commentaries are written based on culture and denominational doctrines. Use your tools and gain your interpretation.

My personal choice is not to use commentaries. The authors write through a lens of denominational doctrine and theology.

While in bible college some teachers required that we use commentaries.  I can see the benefits of using multiple commentaries by various authors from different thought communities.  For example, reading three comentaries by three Calvinist will only validate Calvinist denominational beliefs.

As your prayer life grows, your relationship grows.

Like any good book or movie, everytime you see it you notice what you missed. Every time you re-read scripture you get a new revelation.
